Brett served his time in the show ring, and did quiet well, but it was working that he was kept for and this is where he excelled. He has competed in field trials and working tests, but it was the latter that he did well in, in fact he could have been rather good at them, if they hadn't kept using caged game, pity the real thing wouldn’t stay still.
Out on the shoot he was a different dog, he was very willing and obedient and would work for anyone who asked, he had an excellent nose and was a strong keen swimmer, and he won the praise of a lot of beaters and guns.
Brett was only used a few times at stud, but he produced some handsome dogs, non more so than the litter he produced for the Mimmitrix Kennel in Sweden, all of whom have had good hip scores, and done well at working, as well as some good wins in the show ring. Click here to see his puppies.
Brett sadly died at an early age and has been missed dearly by everyone at home and on the local shoots, but not nearly as much as be me, a day out on the shoot is no longer as enjoyable and oh how I miss falling over him all day!
